We will cover everything from what's happening in the world of comics, shows, and fandom,to the hard hitting stories the news today. Now, here's your host, Chad and Kevin.

Chad:

Hello and welcom to Escape Reality Comics Podcast Show. I am your host Chad May the fourth be with you. It's really the fifth but you know the fourth be with you. I'm with your with my co host, Kevin. Kevin. How you doing buddy?

Kevin:

Are you having a stroke right now?

Chad:

I totally lost it. It totally. I changed one thing and just destroyed the whole thing.

Kevin:

Darth Vader was trying to distance choke you. But that's that's what happened. I'm talking about May the 4th.

Chad:

Alright, so the title today is gonna be bad batch in a pinch of Polish mobbing a lot of Ps there. So, once again, may the fourth be with you. So Kevin, what is your question? You want to start this off? Or do you want me to do it? Or how do you want to do this buddy?

Kevin:

Oh, I'll take care of it. I'm a bigger Star Wars fans.

Chad:

Are, yeah you probably are actually. No no arguments here.

Kevin:

Okay. All right. So. So anyways, yes. May the fourth be with everyone that says Star Wars fan? And yeah, I I don't know. I can't I can't help but always just think about the old trilogy. And when I was a kid, I was just like, wait a minute, Yoda is a muppet. Like,

Chad:

Oh, yeah. When it first came out.

Kevin:

Oh, my God, like when I was a little kid in the 90s. And my parents used to play. You know, like, The Empire Strikes Back when when Luke meets him for the first time. I'm just like, why does he seem familiar? And why does he sound familiar? Like, yeah, I didn't. I didn't ever connect that stuff until like, as I got a little older, and I go, holy crap. Yeah, he's a muppet. He's a muppet.

Chad:

I don't know if he actually covered it. But the question is gonna be what makes you a Star Wars fan? Or what's memorable to you from the franchise? So you're starting off with with? So we're going to ask her our listeners and leave a comment on our Facebook page. And just basically what why did you like Star Wars? Why are you considered a fan? Are you someone like me? Not a fan? I appreciate the movies. And I appreciate the franchise. Kevin, obviously, you are way bigger fan than I am.

Kevin:

Oh, yeah. Yeah, I've been almost a life lifelong fan. So yeah, so it's like the original trilogy for me, so that that's what's really made me a fan. And then when I got older, it was the games. They had a couple of really great older PC games that I really enjoyed. And then they started putting out console games, and then that, you know, just skyrocketed my interest. Like I remember renting. Even as a little kid in the 90s, I rented super return to the Jedi on the Super Nintendo. And that was a big deal to me, because, like how I never actually had a PC. That was mine. I always had like friends. And we're going to my neighbor's house. They had windows 95. And I was playing like some of the old Star Wars games, but being on the rent super Return of the Jedi. I was like, Okay, this is this is something I can get behind. Yeah, right. But But damn was a game hard. Did you ever play that ever back in the day?

Chad:

No, actually, the only game I actually paid for Star Wars would have to be you're gonna hate me for this. I totally forgot the name. But it's it's basically like an alternate timeline where Darth Vader gets this kid and he's like one of the ultra powerful freakin force users.

Kevin:

You thinking of The Force Unleashed?

Chad:

Yes, yes. Yes. That's the one on the fortunately.

Kevin:

So that's it. Yeah, that's a very popular one. So they made two of those games.

Chad:

Yes. I actually I liked the game. Because you know, I like the whole choosing you can be good or evil, kind of like the whole Fallout thing. I usually chose the evil side. But then you know, I like to go back and play back and forth and just kind of change the different endings. So that's one thing I definitely enjoyed. I remember like back in the day day, I remember getting into sort of the Star Wars like when I was a kid Dude, I was like five years old. Like my dad had the original trilogy on on tape. So we still like watch that stuff like every Saturday or something like that. I was like, my dad taught me right so raising me rights. That's for sure.

Kevin:

No, shoot. I remember going to K Martin paradise California. And they had a huge like palette of the the rerelease. The series re released the original.

Chad:

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Kevin:

Movies and they were like, like gold embossed. Yep. You know, green and red and blue. And I was just like, this is amazing. Yes. Like I couldn't not but they did a good job with the package you they as a kid. They nailed it. Nailed my my eyeballs re glued to that. Yeah, so we bought it that very day. I think my parents can even help it either.

Chad:

Oh, wow. Yeah, because I remember even go in the movie theaters for that for those ones for the remakes. When George Lucas first came out and I guess this the the second version of the original series was supposed to be like his vision what was supposed to really happen? But I mean, it was awesome ever watching the kid every every time they came out. Remember Me and my dad used to rush to the movie theaters used to watch it. I mean, I appreciate the movie. The movie franchise for sure. I really can't call myself a big fan. Like I grew up with Trekkies so that should tell you something right there.

Kevin:

So my see my parents were the same too they they were Trekkies as well but I mean they enjoyed Star Wars I think they Yeah, I think they were more Trekkies fans. Yeah, yeah, we can get a whole rabbit hole on that. Oh my God, we can do a whole podcast episode on that.

Chad:

Choose your religion

Kevin:

Are you a Wars fan or a Trekkie Star Wars star is a real thing you know that they have?

Chad:

I'm pretty sure there is I mean, I've talked to a guy real Dude, I went to the army with a guy that actually can actually had a book and he could speak fluent freakin Oh, God. And here I go again. The alien race on from Star Trek that was like super warmongering.God he had a butt for face.

Kevin:

Butt for a face, Gosh, he got me going to. it's Wharf

Chad:

warfare. Yes. What? Yeah, he can. Whatever alien he is. I right? don't know what what they're called. I forgot. I'm pretty sure after the podcast like God Damn it, it's this. But like, at five o'clock in the morning or so. But yeah, no, he can speak fluently. That whole language. I was like, Oh my god, you were a bigger nerd than I am. And I you know, he was like, 19 years old.And we'll hear like in basic training at age 24.

Kevin:

Well, you know, that's a commitment right there like to be able to Yeah, to speak another language and you know, instead of well, I could do Spanish so it shows you how much of a dork he is right there. I could learn Spanish and be bilingual and be you know, really, really like helpful in my society.

Chad:

But I'm gonna learn this whole different language that no one will understand ever.

Kevin:

That's a great

Chad:

Klingon

Kevin:

isn't isn't Klingon on the Klingon?

Chad:

Yes. That's it. Got it. I got it.

Kevin:

I'm proud of you.

Chad:

Thank you.

Kevin:

I didn't have it yet. So no, I'm really Kevin. My mom especially like, come on.

Chad:

So I guess Disney plus has released the first episode of Star Wars The bad batch created by Dave Filoni did I say that right, Filoni fell out alone here fallone integral since Star Wars Clone Wars series and has directed several episodes of the Mandalorian I do enjoy the Mandalorian that's one thing not once again, I'm not a big fan. Like a huge like I don't live for Star Wars but I do love watching I made sure I watch it every single time it's on Disney plus esspecially the Mandalorian I go out theaters to see the the new ones. I saw all of them so far. Actually, it's all over them. There's no more unless there's one out that I don't know of which that could be possible. But I've seen them all. You know, I really enjoyed it. The major ones. Yeah, like my kids. You know, I try to I try and raise my kids right and they watch Star Wars right now. They're watching. We're also watching Star Trek, but more of a cartoon series at Star Trek on. I want to say it's on Hulu. But yeah, it's more of a like adult animated one. It's kind of like a ha ha funny I can't stand watching the original ones. I've I was done as a kid. I didn't like Star Trek at all. at all on Star Trek on to my brother. He remember he was a big Trekkie, and I was like dude, are you kidding me? Star Wars is so much better. I used to argue back and forth

Kevin:

it had lightsabers. Come on,

Chad:

dude. I know guys frickin samuri freakin lightsabers that can do magic powers. I mean, come on. telepathy, shit.

Kevin:

So go back on the bad batch I you know, I didn't think that was gonna be a name they were gonna actually officially keep. So I know that it's the guy is a lot of the crew from the Clone Wars. The guys that hadn't had crew members that have survived and that's why they're the bad batch I guess. So, I have yet to watch it. I honestly have not watched all of Dave Filoni's the Clone Wars series and then that's on Disney plus. So that's something I can watch with the kids now. Yes, it's the style the 3d that even the bad batch is doing. I think they're trying to keep it. That kind of Toonami kind of look. So I eventually hired rehired the original guys that had worked on that stuff. So

Chad:

yeah, I remember watching the Clone Wars on. I'm still, you know, once in a while when there's nothing else to watch. If I watch all the movies I want to watch on Disney plus, and there's absolutely nothing else to watch. I will watch the Clone Wars. Because I haven't saw the whole series. Remember the first season. The first season for it came out. I was like, Oh, cool. This is as a kid. I thought that was awesome. Now as an adult, I said, Okay, well, I mean, just watch it and kind of like, slowly watch it. And then there's also like, rebels Star Wars Rebels. Some would be watching that too. But yeah, but

Kevin:

yeah, I started the first couple episodes of that back in yeah, the day when that was they were just playing it on like the Disney Channel. And then I was able to get access to it online. Like that was before I even had anything Disney Disney plus was never a thing then.

Chad:

Oh, God. No. Yeah, we everything was scheduled back in the day day, man.

Kevin:

Yeah, yeah, kid kids nowadays. You guys got an easy like, you know, with us, we were like, okay, right after school. We're gonna watch them Dragonball Z

Chad:

Exactly Toonami.

Kevin:

If you if you miss if you miss it, you're screwed. Like, you know, I guess if you had a you know, a way to record as a kid.

Chad:

Oh, those are the rich kids. The rich kids had all the fancy toys and you know, oh, yeah, I don't I'm not worried about it. I'm just over here playing mygame well my movies getting recorded by friggin Bach a little whatever it is this little frickin device that records everything for you. Bastards.

Kevin:

has it's going into the cloud now. Yeah.

Chad:

What the hell is a cloud? There's plenty of clouds some splitting codes.Oh, I can go on and on forever. This. Alright, let's move on. We got Star Wars. May the fourth be with you? All you. It's the fifth but you know it's going to be today we're going to pretend it's the fourth. So yes. So let's move on back to Witcher. Now when I first Okay, so when I first saw this, I laughed my ass off. So I'm going to read you the story. I'm gonna tell you why I laugh my ass off. Right. So the Witcher director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz resigned because of bad blood. Right? So when you when you hear bad blood, you really think like, Ooh, there's something really going on. Right? There's like, there's some things in the background and all this stuff. For those who don't know who the who Konrad Tomaszkiewicz is he's the director he directed the Witcher and he directed like also this was that cyberpunk 2770 2077 Jesus Christ. But yeah, because of bad blood. He resigned. So CD, I guess he was involved in a he was conduct he's been conducting a months long whatever the hell that means. months long investigation to accusations of mobbing. Okay? mobbing now when you hear that word mobbing Kevin, what do you think?

Kevin:

I can't help but think like the 1920s mobsters You know, yeah, yeah I'm gonna shoot up things see,

Chad:

I'm gonna stab you shank you. Yo, you go in the alleyway and you're gonna get mobbed by like two or three people stealing your wallet in your shoes. Let's go back to the 80s 80s 90s early 90s you know that's what you think a mobbing right? So this whole thing happened in not American happened in Poland, right? So mobbing is a Polish term for office bullying. So, okay to mask which was found not guilty of the allegations of mobbing office bullying, and he still decided to resign the position. So, when he resigned he put out the statement. I'm going to continue to work on myself. changing behavior is a long and arduous process. But I'm not giving up and I hope to change.

Kevin:

Well, good for him.

Chad:

Let me get this right. The director, Director of Witcher resigned because everyone didn't like him. I think it was found innocent, the CD project that the company worked for. Completely said no, you're good. There's nothing wrong and he still does. He still decided to resign because of people don't like me. Can you imagine this happened America.

Kevin:

All right. Yeah, I would not go this easy

Chad:

Dude to look at Amazon. Look at Amazon. Amazon is literally have the worst like office bullying ever. Right? They have they have big time sexism going on has numerous

Kevin:

big deal Yeah. complaints of females who's working at Amazon specially in their games game department. I think we've covered this last week on Amazon, you guys should listen to is really good. But I mean, it's the worst. It's all guy. It's parent like a 1920s Oh, my man and it's all about brotherhood and all that stuff. They don't care about the women who's working in who's like engineering and designing and who's actually making these games. They're shooting on like crap. But in Poland, the director, the director, I mean, he worked for this company forever. He worked like when he was a kid. I mean, this go back I'm gonna read you on what he's do so and his LinkedIn profile. And back in he was a tester, a video game tester for CD Projekt in 2004, worked on the Witcher and has worked in all three Witcher games, and was design director VP of game development sector secondary game director and head of production on cyberpunk 2077 and he decided to leave

Chad:

Yeah.

Kevin:

I don't understand. Like, you know, I guess he just kind of went okay, fine. If I'm, if I'm that bad.

Chad:

Nobody likes me and I'm leaving now guys. I don't like this.

Kevin:

That would this would this also. My question is is CD Projekt RED. Are they gonna take him back? If he's, if he feels like he's a changed, man? The thing is welcome. anymore. Okay, we'll take you back. Don't do that again.

Chad:

Golly eg neighboured Come on over.

Kevin:

We do need to finish our unfinished game but dude if copies Oh, my God, you help.

Chad:

If this happened America they'd be he'd be telling everyone to shut the hell up firing people right and left and rehiring. Like for the position they will get replaced everyone in the office to get replaced. But no, he decided to step down because nobody likes me.

Kevin:

Well, good for him.

Chad:

And this just shows you where Poland is at right now dude. So think about it the whole that I he has an impressive resume. Right and impressive resume. He stepped down that's just tells you how the whole country is. I mean, this guy set this he's not worried is helping Americans like crap. I'm living on the bridge at the fine here that would have to find job really quick. He's gonna take his time. But again, he probably has millions of dollars somewhere but still. I mean, god damn.

Kevin:

At least you know, all that millions of dollars he made he might just open his own company. So I'll be I'll be my own monster. Yeah, let me see.

Chad:

Oh my god. Alrighty

Kevin:

so let's jump subjects. What's it? What's this about Black Panther.

Chad:

So Comic book news. So we finally got something that's actually interesting. I found it interesting. Anyways, Black Panther has a new writer. So there's gonna be a series of new black panther coming out so they have john Ridley, who is an Oscar winner for writing 12 years a slave. I have you seen that one? That movie?

Kevin:

No, I Oh, like it was for the life of me when it when it comes to movies. They're that hard to watch like about slavery? I'm like, I I know. This is gonna be great. But yeah, dude, eventually.

Chad:

I know what you mean.

Kevin:

Yeah, I know what you mean. But it's been out for years. Oh, very much I hear. It's amazing. Oh, absolutely amazing.

Chad:

It's so good. If you actually have the time to actually watch it. I would watch it. It was actually really good. It's about the he was a fleet a free black man in Pennsylvania, got kidnapped and was asked to see his papers for being a back in the day. A free black man. And they literally these freakin trash bag white people totally take these freakin takes papers were up in front of them, beats him half the death sells him in Georgia somewhere and for 12 years. He was been a slave. And his whole time. He's supposed to be a free man. Well, finally at the end of the movie, they got rescued by his family and a senator over in Pennsylvania to take him back. And he's like, no, this what you did. It was legal. But yeah. So he's coming. JOHN Ridley, who actually wrote 12 years of slave is coming back to marvel. So he wrote comics for a lot a long time. He wrote Batman, Superman and like numerous other comic books. He's coming back to the comics to write Marvel's new black panther series series called Welcome to Wakanda. started in August. So that's pretty cool. All right.

Kevin:

Very nice. So yeah, I wonder what he can bring to the table, you know, like, because especially he's got that writing skills. And one thing I've noticed What's up with riders riding for both Marvel and DC? Like I've noticed that over the years like I'm like, oh, they're not sticking to one thing anymore like, back in the day. You know you got Stan Lee.

Chad:

Well,

Kevin:

he was just strictly Marvel. Yeah, it's like,

Chad:

to be fair. To be fair, john Ridley is an Oscar winner, sir.

Kevin:

So everybody wants him

Chad:

I guess he can go anywhere he damn pleases

Kevin:

now I'm gonna write a Black Panther.

Chad:

Yeah, pretty much and it's I mean I'm really hopeful that I know the series is gonna be freaking awesome get me to read it and all that good stuff but yeah the only thing else to add buddy

Kevin:

well not much I mean if it goes back to Star Wars for May the fourth the you know if you want to you want to get some good deals online. Oh my gosh, there's a ton of them, but I don't know how long they're gonna last. I might get myself a little baby grogu or something.

Chad:

Baby grogu. I remember when I told my kids His name's grogu they threw a fit? No, it's not as baby Yoda. No, it's grogu, it's grogu. it's baby Yoda. No, it can't be baby Yoda. But you know Yoda is dead. There's no baby Yoda. I argue with my kids all the time. They're like nine. My oldest is nine years old and mean her argue all the time All Star Wars. But I'm not a fan.

Kevin:

Yeah, that's right.

Chad:

I appreciate the movies and the lore.
